Objective: To study the distribution of births in obstetric hospitals at various levels in order to assess the stage of medical care provided in the Ural Federal District and its regions from 2019 and 2024.
Materials and methods: This was a descriptive epidemiological study of the number of births and their proportion in obstetric hospitals of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels based on the data of the health authorities of six regions of the Ural Federal District. The study analyzed 36 forms of the Federal Statistical Survey No. 32 “Information on medical care for pregnant women, women in labor, and women have just given birth” from 2019 to 2024. Information on the number of births in the Russian Federation was obtained from the statistical materials of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for the period 2019–2024. The descriptive statistical methods were used for statistical processing of the results. These methods included the absolute growth (decrease), the rate of increase (decrease), the rate of growth (decrease) on a basic and chain basis, and the average (average annual) rate of growth (decrease), expressed in %.
Results: In the Ural Federal District, the distribution of births among obstetric hospitals in groups 1, 2, and 3 followed the national trend. The average rate of growth of the proportion of births in obstetric hospitals for group 1 was -0.10%, for group 2 it was -4.01%, and for group 3 it was +5.68%. The concentration of 51.1% of births in perinatal centers of the 3rd group was noted due to the transfer of patients from obstetric hospitals of the 1st and 2nd groups.
Conclusion: The dynamics of the number of births in the Ural Federal District are characterized by a redistribution from the 1st and 2nd levels to the 3rd one, which corresponds to the all-Russian data. This indicates the positive trend in the staging of medical care and the concentration of patients in perinatal centers.
