Background. Essential thrombocythemia is a malignant myeloproliferative disease that can cause obstetric complications, such as severe preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction, miscarriage, postpartum hemorrhage, and multiple venous thromboses. Untimely diagnosis can lead to rupture of parenchymal organs, for example, spontaneous splenic rupture.
Case report. The paper describes a clinical case of a pregnant woman with pregestationally undiagnosed congenital thrombophilia, essential thrombocythemia, which manifested itself during pregnancy as spontaneous splenic rupture and multiple venous thromboses.
Conclusion. Timely diagnosis and adequate treatment in accordance with national clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of Ph-negative myeloproliferative diseases, including essential thrombocythemia (2016) and congenital thrombophilia, can ensure a favorable pregnancy outcome.
