Objective. To determine the prevalence and patterns of sexual dysfunctions in women visiting a gynecology clinic to be screened for sexual health.
Subjects and methods. A total of 834 women were examined for sexual function, by carrying out a clinical interview using the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) scale.
Results. Sexual dysfunctions were found in 16.7% of the respondents. There were statistically significant differences (p < 0.00) in FSFI total and domain scores reflecting the patterns of sexual function in women with sexual dysfunctions and in sexually healthy women (23.9±4.1 versus 29.2±3.1). A significant difference was established in FSFI total scores and sexual health self-assessment in the age groups less than 29, 30–44, and 45–59 years (p = 0.00). In the age groups less than 29 and 30–44 years, motivation to seek medical advice was related to sexual health self-assessment (p=0.00).
Conclusion. The Russian language version of FSFI can be recommended to screen women for sexual functioning in general health care
