The State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology in 2022 was awarded to Sukhikh Gennady Tikhonovich, Ashrafyan Levon Andreevich, and Trofimov Dmitry Yuryevich for their series of fundamental and applied works on the development and implementation of personalized methods of diagnosis, prevention, and therapy in perinatology, oncology, and reproductive medicine.

Their exploration and original solutions are essential for the fulfilment of tasks in the field of innovative technologies related to diagnosing and treating significant diseases in human reproduction, perinatology, and oncology.

Sukhikh Gennady Tikhonovich is an Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Director of the Academician V.I. Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Perinatology under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

G. Sukhikh has developed and implemented the concept of modern interdisciplinary research in the field of perinatal medicine and human reproduction. He is the founder of fundamental and applied research in the fields of human stem and progenitor cell biology. Under his leadership, complex scientific research programs in obstetrics, gynecology, and neonatology were conducted. Moreover, modern methods for early diagnosis and treatment of pregnancy complications and diseases of the reproductive system in both women and men have been created and implemented based on data from molecular and cellular biology.

Ashrafyan Levon Andreevich is an Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Director of the Institute of Oncogynecology and Mammology at the Academician V.I. Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology, under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

L. Ashrafyan has made significant contributions to the field of oncogynecology and mammology. Under his guidance, studies have been initiated on the oncological aspects of postmenopausal women and the molecular biological factors involved in carcinogenesis. He introduced drugs with an epigenetic mechanism of action (multiple multi-target blockade of the main signaling pathways of carcinogenesis) into clinical practice for the prevention and treatment of reproductive organ cancers (such as breast cancer and cervical cancer) for the first time in Russia.

Trofimov Dmitry Yurievich is a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Director of the Institute of Reproductive Genetics at the Academician V.I. Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology, under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

D. Trofimov has made significant contributions to the development and implementation of an integrated approach using modern methods of molecular genetics for diagnosing a wide range of maternal and child pathologies at all stages, from pregnancy preparation to birth. His work includes the analysis of infectious factors, the human body's reaction to them, and the diagnosis of genetic diseases.

The staff of the Academician V.I. Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Perinatology, the Russian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the editors of the journal "Obstetrics and Gynecology" congratulate their colleagues on the award of the State Prize!
